There’s something about a red, white, and blue outfit that brings me joy!  You too?  Maybe it’s because these fun colors bring back so many cherished childhood memories!  That being said…let’s talk about matching today’s styles with family traditions.

As a child, celebrating July 4th meant eating watermelon at my grandparent’s picnic table in their backyard.  For a hot summer day, I’m suggesting a sundress or something sleeveless.  We think Mara Hoffman’s red checked maxi dress looks so cool and comfy.  Another great option is a Draper James blue checked sundress or Tuckernuck’s cute gingham dress trimmed in red rick-rack.  Oh, and one more thing…how far can you spit a watermelon seed?  Just wondering!

Give me a sparkler and I’m the happiest kid on the block!  To add “sparkle” to your July 4th style….cute accessories are the way to go!  A pair of sparkly cobalt earrings paired with Loeffler Randall’s market basket with red checked handles will definitely brighten your all American style.  Amazon’s multi-purpose red, white, and blue bandanas come in a 3-pack.  For a little extra style, wrap one around your wrist, and if needed….wear one as a mask!

As a teenager, my summers were spent at Lake Ouachita in Arkansas.  From water skiing to picnics on one of the many islands….it was my family’s utopia!  Back in the day, I took two things to the lake….a beach towel and a bikini.  Today it’s a swimsuit cover-up and a wicker bag.  J Crew’s blue tassel embroidered tunic and their gingham cover-up are great lake looks.  Just add a blue pom-pom straw bag, and you’ll be ready for the lake-life!

For a relaxed July 4th poolside party, we’re smitten with a smocked blue striped midi dress.  Back in the day, everyone would meet in the middle of the lake in their boats to watch fireworks.  Anything from denim shorts to a cute summer dress is perfect for a lakeside firework show.  I have to admit, I’m partial to a red Tory Burch peasant dress….which would look adorable paired with red and blue color-blocked Veja sneakers.  Time to start the show!

From picnics and water skiing to fireworks on the lake….“All American Style” brings back so many cherished July 4th memories!  God bless family traditions!
