One of Miss Bee’s favorite desserts is Red Velvet Cake. Red Velvet cake is made with cocoa and lots of red food coloring with a cream cheese icing. This recipe comes from a series of cookbooks by the editors of Southern Living magazine — The Southern Cake Book.
I love the cover design. They also make a Cookies and Pies version. I have all three books in my baking library. The recipes are easy and the photography is beautiful.

The cream cheese icing is one of the best recipes I have found. So, creamy and rich.
Take a fork full of cake and crumble it over the slices to make it look really festive.
One Christmas I made batches of the cake in disposable 8×8 foil pans with the plastic lids, tied them up with white satin ribbon, added a peppermint Christmas ornament and sprig of rosemary and gave them as gifts. Everyone enjoys receiving baked goods made with love by you!
That cake sure was good….even Jeff ate it and he doesn’t like chocolate!
