Want to know the best way to prevent a mid-life crisis?  Up your style game! I’m serious…there’s nothing like a stylish new outlook on life that will make you feel younger, more alive, and “Mid-Life Chic!”

And though it takes a concerted effort to make a lifestyle change, it can be accomplished with a few fashion tweaks, and of course, prayer always helps!  Has a friend ever said to you, “it’s a God thing”? That’s exactly the way I feel about a long tunic top…praise the Lord! Soft Surroundings has a large selection of divine tunic tops to choose from.  You can find a store at Southlake Town Center or online.

A beautiful new design I recently discovered on Tanglewood Moms is a company called Luna Antigua. Friends, Sandra Falcon and Pamela Lozoya, are the co-founders of these beautiful hand-embroidered designs made in Guatemala.  They are perfect for enjoying the outdoors in style. From a lovely evening at Concerts in the Garden to a beach vacation, these tops are definitely a “summer must-have”!

Another age-defying look is a pair of skinny jeans worn with a long shirt or tunic top.  The good news is these jeans also come in plus sizes, and the bonus….skinnies elongate and give a slimming effect.  Talbots and Chico’s have a wonderful variety to choose from. Be sure to browse some of the options on our Pinterest board.  A recent purchase of mine was a pair of white skinny jeans from Cabi…and the bonus is they come in a “curvy” size!

Do you know Victoria’s secret? Shhh…you did not hear this from me, but I’m pretty sure it’s all about wearing under garments that fit correctly. When was the last time you were fitted for a bra? If it’s been over 2 years, then it’s time for a tune-up. And don’t you just love how a new bra “lifts” your spirit! Check out this post on “Finding the Correct Bra Style” from Style, Studs and Lace.

Fashion Tip:  If you live near Ft. Worth, the sales ladies in the lingerie department at Dillard’s are expert bra fitters.

Body shapers can take years off and smooth out signs of aging….“wink, wink”!  Another “God-thing” in my opinion was the invention of Spanx or body shapers. Besides smoothing things out, they hide panty lines and a multitude of sins.  If you wear pencil skirts or white slacks, you must wear one of these saintly briefs.

Fashion tip:  I always purchase body shapers a size larger.  Because here’s the deal, if they are too tight…that roll of fat is going to show up somewhere…right?

Aging fascinates me!  And please know when I talk about mid-life chic, I’m not talking about trying to look younger.  What I’m emphasizing here is how to be a more vibrant version of yourself. And what says vibrant more than accessories, handbags, and shoes?  Show me a lady with one of this season’s “it bags” or a cool pair of shades or shoes, and I’ll show you a vibrant and chic lady!

For fun/hip accessories, think about shopping at stores where younger women shop…like J Crew, Anthropology, Madewell, and Free People.  We are loving the pom-pom shoe selection from Anthropology….perfect for any age! Be sure to browse our Pinterest board. And remember this:  Any woman, any size, and any age can purchase accessories, jewelry, handbags, and shoes in contemporary stores. So on the count of three, everyone shout: Hallelujah!!!

Black and white and monochromatic ensembles will never fail you because they give your style a sophisticated elegance.  Plus, you can always add a youthful pop with fashion jewelry. Stripes and geometric designs are certainly for the young at heart.  That would be you…right? Scarfs are always on-trend and complete an outfit, especially all of the cute pom-pom scarfs. So sassy and so chic!

Wow!  Did you have any idea there were so many ways to revive your lifestyle in a fashionable way?  I don’t know about you, but I’m loving this stage of life…”Mid-Life Chic”! Can I get an “Amen”?
