Summer is the perfect time to add a little bohemian flair to your style.  So let’s talk about bringing back a little nostalgia with tie-dye, kimonos, floral dresses, peasant tops, and artistic jewelry.

I was in college in the mid-70s, and my favorite band was The Eagles.  So guess what I did last weekend? Yep, you guessed it…I took it “to the limit one more time”!  Actually, I was sitting in comfy seats at Cowboy Stadium….not exactly Woodstock but still a blast!   To channel my inner rocker-chick, I wore a tie-dyed maxi skirt with a knotted hem and a light blue denim button-down, tied at the waist with the sleeves rolled up. For an added boho-vibe, I wore a long beaded-tassel necklace and brown Sam Edelman gladiator sandals.

“All alone at the end of the evening…And the bright lights have faded to blue…I was thinking ‘bout a woman who might have loved me and I never knew”

When I think of bohemian style, tie-dye is always the first thing that comes to mind.  From skirts and tops to kimonos, this pattern is iconic boho. We are loving the orange tie-dyed kimono from Free People on our Pinterest board, and even better….it comes in six colors.  Besides concerts, a tie-dyed maxi is perfect for a summer mountain or beach vacation. Think about adding Indian inspired metal jewelry to complete the look.

“You know I’ve always been a dreamer (Spent my life running ‘round)…And it’s so hard to change (Can’t seem to settle down)”

I have to admit it’s rare for me to be rocking out at concerts these days. That being said, I do love finding ways to incorporate a bohemian look into my everyday summer style.  One way to do this is with a kimono. They are so easy to dress up with slacks, and even consider wearing one over your “little black dress”.   We think a floral kimono draped over a striped shirt or dress is so boho-adorable!

But the dreams I’ve seen lately…Keep turning out and burning out and turning out the same…So put me on a highway and show me a sign…and take it to the limit one more time”

Gypsy inspired floral dresses are ideal for an outdoor summer wedding or party.  The floral off-the-shoulder dress coupled with a heart-shaped basket bag is one of our Pinterest board favorites.  Be sure to add a cute pair of woven sandals, and plan to dance the night away! An adorable look from Spell & Gypsy Collective is a pink floral maxi dress….and for daytime, think about wearing flowers in your hair!  To shop gypsy inspired styles, visit Spell & The Gypsy Collective.

“You can spend all your time making money and you can spend all your love making time…If it all fell to pieces tomorrow…would you still be mine?”

A flowy trend that lends itself to a bohemian look is the peasant blouse. Have I mentioned how much I love these beautiful tops? Anthropology and Free People have an awesome selection to choose from, so be sure to browse our Pinterest board.  Two of my Anthro favorites are their Star and Solitaire peasant tops. Wear them with jeans and add a fun pair of fringe earrings!

“And when you’re looking for your freedom (nobody seems to care) and you can’t find the door (can’t find it anywhere)”

Bohemian jewelry tends to be bold and artistic.  We are loving all of the white lace and crocheted dresses on our Pinterest board adorned with white shell necklaces and bracelets….such a fun way to add a beach boho look to your summer style.  A long white shell necklace complements a pink peasant top from Floryday. Another iconic bohemian look is an ankle bracelet. With Urban Outfitter’s celestial themed charm anklet, I’m pretty sure you will want to take a walk in the moonlight!

“When there’s nothing to believe in…still you’re coming back, you’re running back…You’re coming back for more”

From summer parties and picnics to concerts and vacations, we hope you have been inspired to add a little bohemian flair to your summer style.  And who knows…you may even want to consider “taking it to the limit one more time”!!!
