Yesterday was the perfect day to bake.  It was cloudy and rainy and I was hungry for pie.  I am not a pie person.  I am more into cake.  When presented with a dessert buffet, pie is usually not my go-to dessert. That’s interesting because when I was growing up, Earnie always baked pies — pineapple chess, lemon chess, pecan, buttermilk.

It had been probably 20 years since I made the old school recipe for Toll House pie.  I always have chocolate chips on hand so the Toll House Pie was a snap to make.  I used frozen store bought crust.  I am not a crust maker, either.  My bestie could win an award for her pie crust recipe.  Someday when I go to visit her I will do a post on her pie crust.  She whips up pie crust like a Dugger diapering a baby.

The Toll House pie is very rich and would probably be much better with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  But I am not complaining.  It was a great way to spend my Sunday afternoon.  Me and my pie.
